FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What warranty do you offer?
All Achilles Machinery products come with a 3‑year / 3,000‑hour warranty (whichever comes first), covering major components including the engine, hydraulics, transmission, and structural frame. Our SDLG series goes even further with a 5‑year warranty, reflecting their exceptional build quality and durability. This is one of the most comprehensive warranties in the compact equipment sector. Routine service items (filters, oils, belts, hoses) and normal wear parts are excluded. Full terms and conditions are available on request.
Do you have spare parts in Australia?
Yes. We maintain extensive spare parts inventory at our Sydney and Brisbane warehouses, with direct access to additional components through our supply network. Most common service items—filters, seals, hydraulic fittings, undercarriage components—are stocked locally at both locations and dispatched same day for orders received before midday. For parts not held in stock, we can typically source within 3–5 business days.
How does delivery work? Can you ship to my location?
We deliver across Australia’s eastern states and beyond. For metro areas including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra, we use specialist heavy transport with tailgate loading. For regional and remote locations within our service area, we coordinate with trusted carriers who understand rural access. Delivery is insured and tracked. Once your machine is dispatched, we provide an estimated arrival window and tracking details. Simply call 1800 325 158 for a delivery quote to your postcode.
What size mini excavator do I need for my jobs?
This depends on your typical work:
- 4–1.8 tonne class: Ideal for residential backyards, landscaping, pool excavations, and jobs with narrow gate access (down to 830mm with expandable tracks). Fits on a standard tandem trailer behind a ute.
- 2–2.6 tonne class: More digging power and reach, suitable for larger residential projects, rural fencing, and light commercial work. Still trailerable but requires a heavier tow vehicle.
- 8–6 tonne class: For serious excavation, demolition, and farm work. Typically transported via truck or float.
Not sure? Call our Brisbane or Sydney teams—we’ll ask about your typical jobs and recommend the right size.
Can I get attachments with my machine?
Yes. Most of our machines are available with attachment packages. Popular options include:
- Auger sets (for fencing and drilling)
- Hydraulic quick hitches (for rapid attachment changes)
- Tilt buckets and grading buckets
- Hydraulic thumb grabs (for material handling)
- Rippers and post-hole borers
- Backhoes for tractors
We can also supply individual attachments separately if you already own a machine or want to expand capability later.
Do you offer finance or leasing?
Yes, we can assist with finance options through third-party partners. Terms vary depending on your business structure and credit history. Contact our sales team to discuss what might suit your situation.
How do I get support if something goes wrong?
Call 1800 325 158 or email us. Our support team is based in Australia and responds to enquiries quickly—99.9% of issues receive a response within hours. We’ll troubleshoot by phone first, and if parts are needed, we dispatch from Sydney immediately. For complex mechanical issues, we can connect you with local service providers in your area.
Are your machines easy to operate for first-time buyers?
Yes. We specifically select models with user-friendly controls—pilot-operated hydraulics on excavators, shuttle shift transmissions on tractors—that make learning straightforward. That said, we strongly recommend reading the operator’s manual thoroughly and spending a few hours in a safe area practising before tackling serious work. If you’re completely new to machinery, we’re happy to talk through basic operation tips over the phone.
What's the difference between expandable tracks and fixed tracks?
Expandable tracks (available on select models like the A14SE) allow you to retract the undercarriage to around 830mm width for passing through gates and narrow access points, then extend to a wider stance for stability during digging. This gives you the best of both worlds—access when you need it, stability when you need it.
Fixed tracks are simpler, lighter, and slightly less expensive. They’re ideal if you never need to squeeze through tight spaces. We carry both configurations and can advise which suits your typical jobsites.
